Starting to hang stuff on the walls

For some reason I am really hesitant to hang stuff on the walls in our house. Afraid to mar the pretty paint? Not sure what I want to hang? Or maybe where?

One thing we were certain of was a set of four paintings my sister had done for us. We were just waiting on the frames I ordered for them to come in (they were on back-order). They came this week, and between our six inches of snow and my being sick hanging up pictures seemed like something I could manage (compared to priming, painting, insulating or installing quarter round).
