Kitties

I seem to have gotten out of the habit of taking photos of the cats. I think it is the darn black focus points on my 5D mark iii. Sometimes I try anyway and get lucky.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Black and White Gibson

Sunday afternoon Gibson was being really quiet (usually a bad sign with cats, just like it is with kids) and I went hunting for him. I found him lounging in a pool of sun at the top of the stairs. I knew if I went to grab my camera he would probably move, but I had to try to take some photos. Of course he did, but he sat back down and let me take a few, too close for my 100mm to really get the composition I had wanted, but oh well.

Kitties and Windows

I think if the cats could talk, they would say that spring and fall are their favorite seasons, since those are the times that we open the windows and they get to smell and hear all the exciting things that go on outside the house.  Usually they just ignore me when I try to take photos of them when the windows are open, but once in a while I can get them to look at me.  Well maybe just Stanley. 

Did you miss the kitties?

I haven't been taking a lot of photos of the kitties, but I have been taking some.  Especially when I bought myself a new lens in November (Canon 24mm f/1.4L), which I LOVE and use all the time now.













I even took the lens home over Thanksgiving and used it on my mom's cat:

Catching up on Kitties

I don't seem to take as many photos of the kitties as I used to with the good camera, partly because I am not shooting anything (working too much), partly because they are being SO bad lately (literally trying to kill each other as they adjust their pecking order) and because as much as I love the 5D mark III the thing I hate about it, is that the active focal point is almost always black, it doesn't turn red when it is active and trying to focus. Lets just think about how hard it is to get your focus point on the right spot on a BLACK cat, when the point is BLACK! It's more than a little frustrating, I really hope that Canon comes up with a fix for this!
