Ice Storm 2011

I worked from home for a half day today because we were on the receiving end of a lovely ice storm. I used the half day off to shovel and to go out and take some photos of the ice.

Moravian with Snow

Before our first shoveling foray yesterday there was a break in the snow so I went for a little walk the next block over to take some pictures of the nearby college.

Snow Day

I had my first snow day since high school today. Work was closed!! We got well over a foot of snow today (we are going to measure tomorrow when it is all done), and while it was pretItty, it wasn't fun to shovel it three times.

Which shoes?

What is wrong with me that I am jealous of the people having a blizzard right now? It just doesn't feel like winter to me at all here in CA and I really MISS snow. I knew that I enjoyed snow, but I didn't really think I would miss it. I actually am homesick for snow. Not just little flurries but 18 inches of fluffy white muffling goodness!

On a less whiney note, my holiday party dress is here.

I can't wait to wear it. Of course I need some new shoes to go with it since all my other fancy party dresses have been some shade of black I only have black ones. So I thought I would try out a new shoe site Piper Lime from the Gap. They also offer free shipping and returns AND I can use my Banana Republic card!! So I ordered three pairs of shoes (which should be arriving at my desk any minute) in the hopes that I will love at least one pair and I can return the other two. (Not sure what will happen if I LOVE more than one pair!)

It has gotten cooler here this week so this morning I broke out all the sweaters I had packed up last spring because I didn't wear them at all last winter (maybe that was a mild winter?) and it's like I have doubled my winter clothing options again!!

Thursday already?

I can't believe it. And the day is half over. Once I got past Monday the rest of the week has been pretty good. I finally got my drawings out today. Now I just have to get the process description out and things will be good for today. Then I just have to wrap up the Fluid Flow models tomorrow and I will be pretty much done with this project. I know none of that made any sense to you did it?

Aside from work I haven't been doing much other than working out and surfing the web at night while sitting on the couch now that the wireless issue is settled. Looks like I am making my weekend pretty busy with stuff already. Laundry, shopping (Target, mall, Sam's Club), making curtains for Mike, cleaning the apartment. All very thrilling. I am going to try to squeeze in some more yoga and maybe rent a movie or two to watch if it does snow on Saturday.

Speaking of snow we got maybe an inch to an inch and a half yesterday. As far as I know that was the first real snow we have gotten. It was weird to run on the treadmill at work last night in shorts and a sports bra and see the snow falling outside. I kind of hope I can talk myself into going running on Saturday while it is snowing if it does and it isn't too cold. I can't believe I think that sounds like fun! I still can't believe I think running is fun. OH, last night running on the treadmill at work, I ran 3.5 miles without walking! That is the longest I have EVER GONE!! I am very proud of myself for that.

Colder

Okay it was even colder today. Thank goodness I just did yoga instead. I would have frozen my ass off going for a walk out! Tonight I am lifting weights and maybe doing a quick jog on the treadmill or 10 minutes on the elliptical. Just trying to get in some extra calorie burn to make up for the pile of chocolate I ate as dinner last night. Man do I hate the first couple of days of the green pills. On that Sunday I always want to cry for no good reason, Mondays I get superstressed out and want to drown myself in chocolate, Tuesdays I am cranky and starting to have back pain and cramps. Tell me again what is good about being a girl? . . . Right.

Talked to the CA people, they don't really work with any of the companies Mike is interested in. I don't know how I feel about the whole thing. Sometimes I get really excited about it. Other times I just feel totally stressed and scared. No wonder I tend to avoid thinking about the whole thing. Though that doesn't help me make my life better. And I do want it to be better. Fear is a powerful thing.

Record

Wow, I think this is a record for me in terms of length of time between posts. Though I am not sure anyone reads this except Sara! I was in NY from Monday lunch time until after dinner last night for Interphex. It's a big trade show conference thing for the biotech/pharmaceutical industry. It was okay. I worked in our booth, which was nice and huge. If anyone at work puts out pictures I will post some on here. And I got to see Mike for lunch everyday!!

Snow is coming again tonight, 3-5 inches. I wonder if I can "work from home" tomorrow. I am very tired! And Mom and Val are coming down for the weekend to do some shopping!!

Parents Made It

My parents have made it safely to Florida! YEAH! I wasn't really worried that they wouldn't but it is an awfully long drive and I am happy they are there. Of course now they are going to have to just turn around and head back tomorrow. Or sooner if they can move up the Uhaul reservation.

I had a meeting outside the city this morning that I had to drive to and I had to clean SNOW off my car! I was not a happy camper. When is spring finally going to settle into southeastern PA?

I finished my latest library book just now, White Oleander, by Janet Fitch. It was good, though very disturbing. I am going to go to Blockbuster tonight and rent the movie of it. I always prefer to do it that way when I can, read the book then see the movie. If it is a real book, not one based on the movie.
